Preaching in the Balkans
I have just returned from a 4 day Langham preaching conference in Croat
ia (http://www.langhampartnership.org/preaching/).
As Serbia and Albania continue to talk about Kosovo’s future it was great to find a refreshing unity among Christian Pastors, joined in their desire to preach the Bible.
There is a real appetite for training in Bible ministry here. As with so many parts of the world, what little Bible School experience there is happens prior to a “call” to the ministry, with the result that it is probably not sufficiently focused on the training needs. For all its weaknesses, the Anglican system of selection conference prior to starting ministerial training enables the input to be focused around all the future ministry needs.
